Hoosiers Fans Welcome New Hyatt Place Hotel in Bloomington

Bloomington, Indiana  – home of the Indiana University Hoosiers – is now also home to a new Hyatt Place hotel! Hyatt Place Bloomington just opened, and even though it’s the new kid on the block, the hotel is having no problems fitting right in. Located just one block from the Bloomington Convention Center on Kirkwood Avenue, the city’s marque street, and neighboring Indiana University, the hotel captures everything this southern city is all about.

The rich history and culture of the University is deeply embedded into the hotel’s interior design. The hotel’s exterior paints a whole different story, literally, with five custom murals by a local artist Jeff Laramore. In line with academia, Laramore incorporated math and sciences, medicine, business, music, the arts, and all areas where the university excels into his geometric artwork.

“A classic symbol of an arrow seemed to be the best device to illustrate the intake, intersection and expression of ideas,” he said. “As a fusion of ideas, it can symbolize expansion, growth, a direction, or sometimes a healthy lack of direction. Discovery, enlightenment, one idea leads to another. Ultimately, a course to the door of opportunity,” Laramore said.

These bolder, more abstract graphics on the exterior only stretch the story of the more academic, student union-like approach of the interior, making the stay at Hyatt Place Bloomington a completely unique experience.

Publication1But Indiana University isn’t the only college campus where visitors can conveniently find a Hyatt Place hotel. College campuses nearby open Hyatt Place locations include: Ohio State University, University of Wisconsin-Madison, University of California Davis, University of Chicago, and Indiana University. And you’ll see even more in the future! Executed contracts for Hyatt Place locations near Western Kentucky University, Michigan State University, University of Georgia, and University of South Carolina. Stay tuned!
