Family Travel Tips Leading Into Mother’s Day

Mother’s Day – celebrated in many countries around the world – is right around the corner – Sunday, May 11. If you still don’t know what to get the leading lady in your life, look no further than a reenergizing family vacation!

In fact, the Hyatt Regency brand was just recognized this week with Parent Tested Parent Approved (PTPA) Seal of Approval for its family-friendly resort experiences. PTPA Media Inc.’s objective family testers stayed at several Hyatt Regency resorts, and their feedback about activities that appeal to a range of age groups, spacious guest rooms, overall value and more earned the brand PTPA Media Inc.’s first-ever hotel recognition.

With Mother’s Day on the horizon, here are our top tips for family travel:

  • Don’t over pack. It’s always busy just as you head out for vacation, so don’t worry about packing every little thing. Focus on the must-haves like medications, suitable attire, and personal items. Other items, from toothbrushes to cell phone chargers to pool noodles, can be borrowed from the Hyatt Has It menu available at any Hyatt hotel, including all Hyatt Regency locations.
  • It’s OK to break away. Family vacations are often some of the most memorable moments because everyone is together. But, don’t forget that it’s OK to have some “me” time too. Camp Hyatt, offered at many Hyatt Regency resorts around the world, provides kids ages 3-12 with activities focused on the destination’s culture, history and environment. It’s the perfect opportunity for a relaxing massage or a poolside break with your favorite book. A hotel with plenty of space in the room is key, too, so you’re never on top of each other.
  • Maintain a healthy dining routine. There’s no better time to indulge and allow for “special treatment” than during vacation, but as they say, everything in moderation. It’s a good idea to balance that with some healthier options that include ingredients your kids also enjoy at home. Hyatt’s “For Kids By Kids” menu ditches the overly fatty proteins and fries in favor of organic fruits, veggies and other healthier options. Plus, many of the dishes are interactive, like top-your-own tacos to keep them entertained during mealtime.
  • Relax! Something is bound to veer off course from what you’ve planned, but try your best to remember that it’s vacation. Our hotel staff is here to help, whether it’s directions, forgotten items, communication needs, or something else. We have you covered.
