Hyatt Ziva & Hyatt Zilara: Behind the Logos
Have you heard the good news? We are adding more resort locations! And not just any resorts, all inclusive resorts! With Hyatt’s own process for understanding guest needs and innovating – Hyatt Thinking – as a guide, our brand team and operations friends have been hard at work to define and shape the guest experience for two new all include brands: Hyatt Ziva and Hyatt Zilara.
We recently unveiled the brands’ visual identities and logos at a kickoff event at Andaz Liverpool Street in London in conjunction with World Travel Market, a global trade show for travel agents and wholesalers. But how did we get there? What was the inspiration behind the brands’ signature look?
To find out, we caught up with Angelica Acebedo-Frint and Adam Frint, two members of Hyatt’s own internal creative engine – The Studio. Angelica and Adam led the effort to turn the new looks into reality. Here’s what they had to say.
Q. Explain the Z?
A. The Z is unique and abstract – an approach that encourages you to enter the shape to chose the experience you want through the parameters of the Hyatt all inclusive experience. The Z manifests in a more controlled application of organic textures and colors. I drew from texture and colors that exist in tropical, resort environments, from mosaics and hammocks, to fish and shells. Even the curve of a dolphin fin or a sail helped inspire the rounded corners of the Z.
Q. Why are there so many different colors?
A. We wanted to create a cohesive visual representation for Hyatt Ziva and Hyatt Zilara. From a distance the colors blend, but as you get close, the details reveal themselves and encourage you to explore all the facets of Hyatt and the Hyatt experience. We hope the Z reflects the experience the experience reflects the Z.
