One year ago, we launched Hyatt Thrive, our global corporate responsibility platform that helps make our communities places where our associates are proud to work, our guests want to visit, our neighbors want to live and owners want to invest. We take this commitment seriously, and to celebrate Hyatt Thrive's one-year mark, we're kicking off Hyatt's official month of community service!
Global Volunteer Initiative
For starters, Keyed Into Hyatt will bring you "Thrive Thursdays" each Thursday in June, spotlighting Hyatt hotels around the globe giving back throughout the month in their local communities as part of our annual Global Volunteer Initiative.
As usual, our hotel teams aren't the only ones giving back. Our corporate office will be teaming up with our local Hyatt hotels and Chicago Cares for a volunteer effort again this year, too. See last year's volunteer efforts in Chicago below:
National Conference on Volunteerism and Service
Also giving back is President and CEO Mark Hoplamazian, who'll be a featured speaker at the National Conference on Volunteerism and Service held in our hometown June 18-20. The conference is the world's largest gathering of volunteer and service leaders from the nonprofit, corporate and government sectors. Mark is excited to join an amazing group of colleagues including Carol Cone, global vice chairman of Edelman, and Neil J. Nicoll, president and CEO of YMCA of the USA, for a panel about private sector collaboration and how the engagement of employees, nonprofits or corporations can be used to create a turning point for how organizations do business.
Corporate Responsibility Report
Finally, we're looking forward to sharing our first corporate responsibility report. Coming later this month to HyattThrive.com, the report will detail Hyatt's commitment to managing business responsibly. It will also share our progress and commitment to efficient and responsible operations, to minimize the environmental imact of our hotels, and to create positive change in the communities where our hotels operate. Here's a teaser: Did you know Hyatt associates devoted more than 26,000 hours - or 3,500 days - of volunteer time last year?
We can't wait to show you how our community service month comes to life. Check back this Thursday for our first Thrive Thursday spotlight!
