We would like to extend a very warm congratulations to Grand Hyatt Erawan Bangkok for being honored as the top city hotel by Condé Nast Traveler in its global 2010 World Savers Awards. The hotel was given this award for demonstrating its social responsibility through minimizing its environmental impact, improving the quality of life in its neighboring communities and initiating and participating in philanthropic activities.

In its fourth year, The World Savers Awards honors travel companies from around the world for their leadership in social responsibility in five key areas, including education, environment and/or cultural preservation, health, poverty relief, and wildlife conservation.

As an overall winner, Grand Hyatt Erawan Bangkok succeeds in all of these categories through initiatives and community programs, such as:

  • Hotel achievement of Green Leaf certification, which recognizes hotels in Thailand for their commitment to environmental conservation
  • Participation by more than 600 hotel associates representing all departments in a six-hour environmental training program
  • Implementation of several water savings initiatives and installation of energy efficient lighting across many areas of the hotel
  • Organization of annual blood drives for the Thai Red Cross
  • Working alongside local farmers on organic farms to grow local produce for the hotel’s restaurants
  • Planting mango trees at Erawan National Park ─ part of an initiative to help save wild elephants

These examples  are just a small glimpse into the work done every day by our colleagues at Grand Hyatt Erawan Bangkok that have helped them to become visionary leaders in sustainability.

Winners of the World Savers Awards will be celebrated October 20 at an award ceremony in Singapore, where our vice president of corporate social responsibility, Brigitta Witt, will speak on a panel along with executives from other winning organizations, including Royal Caribbean, Nature Air and Cayuga Sustainable Hospitality Costa Rica.

Stay tuned to Keyed Into Hyatt as we continue celebrating Grand Hyatt Erawan Bangkok for receiving this internationally renowned award.
