Today, we officially opened our doors to business and leisure travelers at Hyatt Place San Jose/Downtown, our first Hyatt Place in the city.
You know what they say... location, location, location. In addition to the Convention Center across the street, the hotel is just four and a half miles from the Mineta San Jose International Airport, close to major tech companies, within walking distance to more than 150 restaurants, and not far from popular tourist destinations such as the Tech Museum, San Jose Museum of Art, Children's Discovery Museum and the HP Pavilion (home to the NHL San Jose Sharks). Not to mention, it's easily accessible to major freeways and adjacent to light rail and train stations.
And it's not just an exciting opening for Hyatt Place - it's a time of broader development for Silicon Valley's capital city. For starters, San Jose recently completed a $1.3 billion airport modernization project. Construction is already underway on the recently-approved, 125,000-square-foot expansion of the Convention Center, located directly across the street from the hotel. It's expected to be complete in September of next year, and there's still more to come! San Jose recently played host to the U.S. Figure Skating Championships and will host the 2012 U.S. Olympic Team Trials in June.
