Hyatt Regency Chongqing exterior

This week, we celebrated the opening of Hyatt Regency Chongqing in the booming Southwest China city, marking Hyatt's twentieth hotel in China. Our newest property is located in the heart of the Jiangbei District, a new central business district and increasingly popular commercial center in Chongqing, with close access to all the great shopping, food and entertainment.
Chongqing has been one of the most notable places in China for history and culture since its founding 3,000 years ago. The city's Three Gorges region and Yangtze River are known to millions of travelers across the world.
In 1997, Chongqing became the newest municipality directly under the State Council (following Beijing, Shanghai and Tianjin), and it is among the most populated cities in the world with more than 30 million residents. Today, Chongqing is the economic center of the upstream Yangtze area and serves as a major manufacturing base and transportation hub for Southwest China.
It gets its "Mountain City" name because of the location between mountains in the Southeastern part of the Sichuan Basin, with buildings placed along the slopes and perched above the crisscrossing Jialing and Yangtze rivers.
The city's great history and, at the same time, modernization has made Chongqing an interesting combination of old and new. Hyatt Regency Chongqing's interior designers, Hirsch Bedner Associates, have drawn on this mix and uniqueness of the city to create an unforgettable experience of the city inside the hotel.
In each of the hotel's 321 guestrooms, four innovative, yet authentic restaurants and bars, rejuvenating spa and fitness center, and extensive meeting and event spaces, guests can see traditional and familiar Chinese patterns and features in every corner, but done in a modern and contemporary way. Incredible craftsmanship and materials, such as bronze, rock crystal, shagreen, metal, porcelain, ceramics, wood, rocks, liuli glass and cloisonné, are used to create an ambience with different textures and vividly depict the surrounding mountainous landscape.
We hope you'll come visit us and experience the vibrant city for yourself, but until then, here are some photos of the new hotel to entice you:
