We're thrilled to share hot-off-the-presses news today of Hyatt's coming growth in Mexico and throughout Latin America. With eight Hyatt-branded hotels in Latin America today, we expect to bring that number to 20!
We had already shared plans for four Hyatt-branded hotels under development in Latin America: Grand Hyatt Rio de Janeiro in Brazil, Andaz Papagayo and Hyatt Place San Jose Pinares in Costa Rica, and Hyatt Place Panama City in Panama. But there's new news!
As a first step, Hotel Nikko Mexico has just been officially reflagged as Hyatt Regency Mexico City. Mexico continues to be a hot spot, as Commerce Department data shows it was again the most-visited country in the world for U.S.-originating travelers in 2011, and Mexico City is a premier political, business, and commercial hub.
New hotels planned for Mexico include:
- Park Hyatt Los Cabos: Expected to open in 2015, this hotel will be within a master planned golf resort community that stretches along two miles of beach coastline in Los Cabos.
- Park Hyatt Riviera Maya: Right on the beachfront in Riviera Maya, south of Cancun, Park Hyatt Riviera Maya will be within an upscale, mixed use hotel, residential and golf community. It's expected to open in 2016.
- Andaz Mayakoba: Expected to open in 2015, Andaz Mayakoba will be in the master planned resort community of Mayakoba, situated along one mile of beach coastline in Mexico's Riviera Maya.
- Hyatt Playa: Hyatt Playa, also expected to open in 2015, will be beach front in Playa del Carmen with 460 feet of white sand beach.
- Hyatt Place San Jose del Cabo: Expected to open in 2013, this hotel will be close to the beach, golf courses, commercial areas, dining and entertainment - not to mention less than 10 minutes from Los Cabos International Airport!
- Hyatt Place Tijuana: Located in the vibrant Aviacion neighborhood on Agua Caliente Boulevard, the hotel will be close to the city's best shopping plazas and Tijuana's international airport. It is expected to open in 2013.

We also have new plans for Colombia:
- Hyatt Regency Cartagena: We expect to open our first Hyatt-branded property in Colombia in 2015, right in Cartagena's oceanside Bocagrande district. In addition to 250 guestrooms, including 29 suites, the property will include 72 Hyatt-branded residential condominiums.

Over the next few years, these hotels will join our existing eight hotels in Latin America. We couldn't be more excited as Hyatt continues to expand its full-service and select-service brands around the globe. As we always say, stay tuned!
