Thrive Thursday: Making the Giving Spirit Last Year Round

We're heading into a new year with hearts full as we come up on the end of our Vote. Give. Thrive. campaign. You still have until 12 p.m. CST on December 31 to cast votes for the causes you care most about, and the organizations that receive the most votes will receive additional funds from Hyatt! But we know the giving spirit isn't just one time of year at Hyatt, because our hotels, offices, and individual associates are giving back and making a difference in the lives of those we touch each and every day.

Thanks to strong local community partnerhips on the part of Hyatt hotels and offices, take a look at some more of the organizations receiving a Hyatt Community Grant this year:

SPEED Trust

Park Hyatt Chennai

Education & Personal Advancement

Supporting one of the largest slums in Chennai, SPEED Trust works with widowed and abandoned mothers and their children to develop income-generating skills. Park Hyatt Chennai has developed a recruitment program to enroll potential candidates from SPEED Trust in entry-level positions and internships at the hotel.

St. John's School

Hyatt Regency Guam

Economic Sustainability

For the last two years, Hyatt Regency Guam has partnered with St. John’s School on a recycling program in which associates help collect and sort recyclable aluminum, tin, plastic and glass. In 2011, this program helped divert 237,000 plastic bottles and 95,000 aluminum cans from landfills.

The Library Project

Andaz Shanghai

Education & Personal Advancement

With help from Andaz Shanghai and a Hyatt Community Grant, the Library Project donates libraries to underfinanced schools, community centers and orphanages throughout China and Vietnam. To date, they have donated more than 350,000 books, 760 libraries, and reached more than 250,000 children.

Vail Valley Foundation

Park Hyatt Beaver Creek

Education & Personal Advancement

The Vail Valley Foundation provides early education, after-school mentoring and scholarships for disadvantaged youth. In addition to hotel volunteerism, the hotel's developer and former owner also serves on the Board of Directors.

WomenRising

Hyatt Regency Jersey City

Economic Development & Investment

The Human Resource team at Hyatt Regency Jersey City partners helps WomenRising support women self-sufficiency and empowerment by conducting monthly workshops, which seek to provide education, resources and professional skills.

Youth Off The Streets

Park Hyatt Sydney

Education & Personal Advancement

Supported by Park Hyatt Sydney, Youth Off The Streets takes disadvantaged youth under its wings to mentor and provide personal and professional development that helps them becoming thriving adults.
