James Buchanan, Sr., Executive Steward at Hyatt Grand Champions and named Outstanding Manager of theYear by the California Hotel & Lodging Association

Even with the Thanksgiving holiday behind us, we still want to share with you someone we're very thankful for here at Hyatt – Executive Steward James Buchanan Sr. of Hyatt Grand Champions, who was just named "Outstanding Manager of the Year" by the California Hotel & Lodging Association.
Today's "Employee Accolades" post is all about James, who has been with Hyatt Grand Champions for more than 24 years. It is James' warmth and determination that has brought great success to his team and has earned him this special honor, which recognizes exceptional performance by a supervisory employee to their subordinates, to guests, and to the community.
For as long as James can remember, he's always worked to help support his family. Even at the young age of eight years old, James was holding down a job while also taking care of his siblings. More than two decades ago, James joined the Hyatt Grand Champions family as a Houseman and quickly moved his way up to Supervisor of Housekeeping, a position he kept for 12 years. James then transferred over to the Food & Beverage department, where he worked hard and was promoted to Executive Steward. When James isn't working, he spends his time being very active in the Indian Wells community by working with a local organization called "Exceed," which hires and fosters associates living with disabilities.
All of James' associates admire his work ethic, dedication and commitment to the resort, its guests, and its employees. In fact, many associates refer to James as the "heart and soul" of the hotel.
We want to take this time to give a heartfelt thanks to James Buchanan, Sr. for all he does at Hyatt Grand Champions and a huge congratulations for being named Outstanding Manager of the Year!
