For those of you that don't know, every year Fortune magazine comes out with its "World's Most Admired Companies" list showing the companies that enjoy the strongest reputations within their industries. This year's rankings just came out, and we are proud to see that Hyatt made a strong showing in its debut appearance.
This is the first year Hyatt has been eligible for inclusion since we launched as a public company in late 2009. Hospitality executives, directors and analysts surveyed by Fortune rated Hyatt in the No. 2 spot in "Hotels, Casinos and Resorts," making us one of the most admired companies in our industry. We are honored that industry followers and our peers would rate us that highly so soon after we introduced ourselves to market.
To determine the most admired in each category, Fortune compiled scores for companies based on nine different criteria: innovation, people management, use of corporate assets, social responsibility, quality of management, financial soundness, long-term investment, quality of products/services, and global competitiveness.
For all of us at Hyatt, this recognition is a great start to 2011. We're looking forward to another exciting year with a continued focus on our exceptional people, innovative approach to growth, global footprint, dedication to social responsibility, and our core efforts to provide authentic hospitality to our guests worldwide.
