Andaz 5th Avenue just opened in July, and with its sophisticated quality, yet relaxed, casual atmosphere, it needed a general manager who exuded Andaz spirit. There was no better person to fill this role than our very own Jonathan Frolich.

A native of Australia, Jonathan has worked for Hyatt Hotels & Resorts for an impressive 15 years. During that time, he's traveled all over the globe serving in managerial positions at hotels in major gateway cities, including Hong Kong, Sydney and Los Angeles.

Next up on Jonathan's world tour was Chicago, where he settled in at the corporate office in 2007 to help design and create the essence of Andaz. Jonathan and his team developed innovative ideas and looked at new ways to bring the philosophy of simple, tailored hospitality to life. Thanks in part to his leadership, in just three short years, Andaz has grown from a creative concept into a reality, with a total of five open properties to date, including Andaz 5th Avenue. There are plans to bring the distinctively Andaz version of authentic hospitality to more great destinations in the near future, too, including Amsterdam, the Turks and Caicos, Sanya Sunny Bay and Delhi.

After helping to build the Andaz brand from the ground up, Jonathan now serves as general manager at Andaz 5th Avenue, overseeing the day-to-day operations of the hotel, including managing the hotel’s hosts and ensuring that guests get the full Andaz experience. There is no better or more fitting place for Jonathan's next stop on his Hyatt world tour than Andaz 5th Avenue.

As all Andaz hosts are true experts on their local neighborhoods, Jonathan spends his free time out and about in New York City, exploring art, design, architecture, food and wine, and everything else that the Big Apple has to offer.
