Guestroom at Hyatt Regency Chennai

Today marks the official opening of Hyatt Regency Chennai, continuing Hyatt's growth and development in India. We are especially excited to be making our debut in Chennai – a city rich in cultural experiences and at the forefront of economic progress in India. Chennai is located on the Bay of Bengal and is complete with spiritual, historical sites mixed among a very vibrant cultural scene with Carnatic musicals, contemporary theatre fests and a flourishing arts scene.
As the first Hyatt to be located in the south Indian market, Hyatt Regency Chennai infuses culturally and locally authentic elements into its location, construction and design. The 327-room hotel is part of Chennai's folklore and history – it's located where the legendary Abbotsbury Hall once stood – a fashionable and famous event space that attracted the city's most elite.
The extensive art installations throughout the hotel were created by more than 40 renowned national and international artists. All are crafted around the Indian concept of madhu, kriti, vriti – a symbiotic relationship that a bee shares with a flower, which is translated in Indian culture to represent the harmony, co-existence and balance that one should share with nature. Guests staying at the hotel are encouraged to take a customized art tour of all the installations.
You can read more about Hyatt Regency Chennai by visiting the hotel's website or reading the press release.
Hyatt Regency Chennai will be in good company very soon – Park Hyatt Chennai, located in the heart of the city, is expected to open in 2012.
