Environmental responsibility and "going green" are not just passing trends or buzzwords here at Hyatt.

We recognize that environmental sustainability is a long-term journey, not a short-term endeavor, and we are as committed to helping our environment and local communities as we are to caring for our guests across the globe.

One of the drivers of our progress is the passionate people in every one of our hotels who are dedicated to making a difference. These Green Teams at several of our hotels are taking big steps to help Hyatt achieve its overall sustainability goals.

Grand Hyatt New York: New York City students can give back to the community with an environmental responsibility educational experience offered on an ongoing basis through the hotel’s partnership with GrowNYC. Approximately 1,800 students have the unique opportunity to join the Training Student Organizers (TSO) program, where they learn about environmental issues through various hands-on activities and community service programs. This partnership, made possible by the Grand Hyatt New York’s Hyatt Community Grant, provides students with simple, easy ways to get others involved in sound environmental practices.

Hyatt Regency Vancouver: As one of the largest convention hotels in Western Canada, Hyatt Regency Vancouver has teamed up with Bullfrog Power, Canada's 100 percent green electricity provider, to provide renewable energy to the entire hotel. All of Hyatt Regency Vancouver's meeting rooms are bullfrogpowered™ with wind power from Bear Mountain, the first renewable energy project in B.C. to deliver EcoLogoM-certified wind power. Hyatt Regency Vancouver joins its sister property, Hyatt Regency Calgary, which began bullfrogpowering its meeting space, gym and pool area in 2008.

Hyatt Regency Sanctuary Cove: Recognized by the Queensland Department of Environment and Resource Management, Hyatt Regency Sanctuary Cove serves as an example of how relatively easy initiatives can drastically reduce water usage for hotels and resorts. Hyatt Regency Sanctuary Cove has also earned ecoBiz Partner status, which is given to companies demonstrating eco-efficient savings through reducing water and energy consumption, waste and greenhouse gases, and their carbon footprint.

These hotels represent just a small sample of our properties who are leaders in sustainable business practices. Make sure to check back from time to time as we continue to highlights hotels across the globe who are giving back by going green.
