Memorable Moments

Cheers to St. Patrick’s Day!

I hope you’re all wearing green and having a festive St. Patrick’s Day!

Saint Patrick’s Day or the Feast of Saint Patrick (in Irish Lá Fhéile Pádraig) commemorates Saint Patrick and the arrival of Christianity in Ireland, as well as celebrates the heritage and culture of the Irish people. A public holiday in Ireland, this day also is celebrated widely in Britain, Canada, the United States, Argentina, Australia and New Zealand, and in recent years, there have been a growing number of celebrations in other countries.

This might be my favorite holiday because Chicago celebrates in a big way. This weekend, guests at Hyatt Regency Chicago joined with locals and watched the Chicago River being dyed green from the hotel’s East Tower. People were scatted all about downtown following the city’s giant parade up Columbus Drive.

In Tokyo, Saint Patrick’s Day revelers head to a large parade within a ten minute taxi ride from Park Hyatt Tokyo in Harajuku / Omotesando, which is organized by the Irish Network Japan.

The largest St. Patrick’s Day celebration in the United States takes place New York City with over two million spectators present. The parade begins at 44th Street and finishes at 79th Street running up 5th Avenue.

In honor of Saint Patrick’s Day, the stylish Hyatt Union Square New York enlisted Vanity Projects, one of New York City’s in-demand nail studios, to provide complimentary manicures to hotel guests and locals over the weekend and through today. Manicure art included shamrocks, pots of gold, leprechauns, and more.

However you celebrate and wherever you celebrate, we hope you’re safe and merry!
