Summer’s Perfect Award-Winning Key Lime Pie
For me, summer means beach breezes, suntans, fruity cocktails and refreshing desserts. So when I heard Hyatt Key West Resort and Spa‘s key lime pie earned Best Classic Key Lime Pie in Key West, I had to know the secret to its success.
As Executive Chef Dan Higgins said, “Our recipe is a very simple and basic with no crazy ingredients. When we make the pie, it is important to be focused and precise with their measurements on all the ingredients. It’s really the little details that make the pie so good and making it with care, and a lot of love.”
Of note, good quality ingredients are equally as important as the love. The Classic Key Lime pie has a graham cracker crust, and – without giving away the secret recipe that’s earned the hotel bragging rights – the filling is made with sour cream, fresh key lime juice (of course!), and condensed sweetened milk.
You can practically taste the creaminess and key lime zest from the photo! But to experience the real thing first hand, you’ll just have to come on down to the most southern point in the United States to try it yourself…
